Emergency Financial Aid

The St. Vincent de Paul Ministry office and food pantry is located at:

134A Allegan Street, Otsego, MI 49078

Directions: The location of St. Vincent de Paul Ministry is 134A W. Allegan Street directly on the parking lot on the west end of downtown Otsego. The office and food pantry is now one block west of the main traffic light in downtown Otsego, directly behind the WIC State Agency office and clinic.


► St. Vincent de Paul Ministry received an average of 17 requests per month for financial assistance during 2015.

► St. Vincent de Paul Ministry provided $18,870 in heat and power, fulfilling 107 requests during 2015.

► Fifty-three requests for emergency housing assistance Totaling $10,100 were filled in 2015.

► Water and phone were covered for 9 requests during 2015, amounting to $1,478.

►Three medical/dental bills were covered for $360.

►Auto/gas requests amounting to $400 were fulfilled for 11 requests.

►Miscellaneous requests totaled $1,749 during 2015.

Emergency financial aid may be available for the following.

□ Housing                     □ Medical/Dental                   □ Auto

□ Utilities                       □ Home Repair                      □ Other

Requests for financial assistance require completion of a form.  Applications are received during office hours and submitted to our Board on Thursday afternoon for decisions based on available funds, organizational guidelines, and other factors.  Clients are notified of decisions as quickly as possible.

Assistance is provided by household even if multiple families or unrelated adults live at the same address.  Payments are made directly to a utility company, landlord, etc.  For some requests it may be necessary to contact additional agencies, landlords, utility companies, etc., to verify information or make payment arrangements.

Advocacy and Resources

► St. Vincent de Paul offers the availability of other community resources and will assist clients in obtaining help.

► Referrals may be made to other agencies and organizations for needs that are better served by those organizations.

In addition to material and emotional assistance, one of our founding offerings is spiritual support.  Through the pure and simple power of prayer, you can help yourself or a neighbor in need find strength, hope and guidance.

Needed Goods & Services

► Approximately $3,000 in goods and services were donated for St. Vincent de Paul clients in 2015.

► Clothing, bedding, office supplies, laundry soap, food repackaging supplies amounted to $200.

► Services, including repairs, locks, accounting and tax support totaled $1,455.

Assistance in locating appliances, furniture, household items, clothing, and various services will be provided as needed.

Food Pantry

► St. Vincent de Paul Ministry Food Pantry is located at Court Street, Otsego, Michigan.

► An estimated $124,198 in food was donated in 2015.

►About 1,590 food requests fulfilled during 2015.

►In 2015, about 4,892 people were fed through the pantry.

►An average of 132 food requests were received monthly during 2015.

Inspired by the values and example of St. Vincent De Paul, we are a group of Catholic lay men and women seeking to grow spiritually through prayer and person to person service to the poor.

Office Hours are

Monday: 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Tuesday: 10 AM to 12 PM
Wednesday 3 PM to 5 PM
Thursday: 10 AM to 12 PM
Friday: Closed
*May be closed if local schools are closed
** Closed most holidays
